Property Committee (2006)

Committee Members: Fred Alderman [Chairman], Dave Pinkney [Vice Chairman], Patricia Pinkney, Jeff Jarvis, Steve Kennard, John Hutton, Don Dantz, Steve Landgrebe, Sean Coyle, Donald Wilkinson [Secretary], Kurt Scribner [Ex-Officio: Sexton Representative]

Meetings were held on the second Tuesday of each month with the exception of August, September and October. Robert Kirchhoff attended meetings frequently as an observer and historicy consultant.

FOLLOWING IS A SUMMARY OF THE YEARS WORK:

1. A bulletin board was placed outside the church office door to inform church members of Property Committee activities.

2. The Archives room in the basement was completed for the church Historians.

3. Rob Landgrebe completed the upgrade of the basement storage room as an Eagle Scout project.

4. A fail safe system was installed on the main boiler so it can be operated by an auxiliary generator during power outages.

5. New doors were installed in the north and south parking lot entrances.

6. The sanctuary roofing was replaced with 50 year composition shingles and copper flashing.

7. A removable railing was installed on the east chancel steps in the Sanctuary.

8. About 34 "Church Usage Requests" were processed from members, girl scouts, boy scouts, civic organizations and non profit groups.

9. Two dehumidifiers were installed in the basement.

10. The main boiler was shut down during the summer and the system was completely checked. Several valves were replaced and the system was filled with anti-freeze.

11. On the advice of the village building inspector new emergency exit signs with battery back up are being installed to more clearly define escape routes during an emergency.

12. A hearing system “loop" has been installed in the sanctuary. Several members with hearing problems have commented that they can now hear the services more clearly through their hearing aids.

13. The grounds were given a facelift by removing weeds and putting down fresh mulch.

14. Rocks were installed on the top of the retaining wall by the rear cellar entrance to discourage "skateboarders" from performing on the wall.

15. A bin was placed outside the north entrance door. The bin contains ice melting materials to be used when ice creates a hazard at the door.

The committee thanks to members of the church family who have helped with projects. Our thanks and praise to our Lord for blessing us with a beautiful facility in which to serve Him.
